DePuy Pinnacle Hip MDL Trial Begins in January 2016
December 17th, 2015 by Cutter Law
There are so many ongoing lawsuits related to metal hip implants that it can be tough to keep track of what stage all the litigation is at. Today’s post is a short one to share an update related to the DePuy Pinnacle multi-district litigation (MDL) trial ongoing in federal court in Dallas.
The second major trial in MDL No. 2244 will begin before Judge Ed Kinkeade on January 6th, 2016. This MDL has been ongoing since 2011. The first bellwether trial concluded in October 2014 and found the device manufacturer not liable. Going into this next trial, plaintiffs’ lawyers will be able to draw from the results of the first verdict to retool their cases.
Serious problems with the DePuy Pinnacle metal-on-metal hip implant have been rampant, and include premature failure, metallosis, pain and tissue damage/loss.
Once the trial gets underway early next year, we will post updates as information becomes available.
